Extended Bio

Hailing from Conyers, Georgia, Max Moore is an accomplished pianist and a prominent presence in the Denver music scene. Playing professionally since the age of 13, he attended Denver School of the Arts and went through Colorado Conservatory for the Jazz Arts, studying under and playing with Denver greats such as Eric Gunnison, Shane Endsley, Brad Goode, Paul Romaine, Greg Gisbert and Greg Harris.

At Denver School of the Arts he got the great chance of being able to attend masterclasses and play with many jazz legends that would come through the school, such as Melissa Aldana, Ron Miles, Kurt Rosenwinkel, Greg Osby, Veronica Swift, and Terrell Stafford, among others. After graduating he attended The New School in New York City, where he got the opportunity to study with  former Jazz Messenger Dave Schnitter, along with one of his heroes Hal Galper. He considers his time in New York one of the most important and formative experiences in his musical life, meeting and playing with his fellow peers and getting to watch his musical heroes play all over town.

Max is a regular performer at prominent Denver venues such as Dazzle, Nocturne, and Mercury Cafe. His notable appearances include performances at the Rochester Jazz Festival, Vail Jazz Festival and the Five Points Jazz Festival. He is a recipient of the Five Points Jazz Grant, has been featured in Downbeat magazine, and was honored with a soloist award by Wynton Marsalis at the Essentially Ellington competition in New York City. Additionally, Max has received commissions from the Bonfils-Stanton Foundation, and the prestigious Bruce Museum in Greenwich.

He maintains an active performance schedule throughout Denver and the Front Range, hosting jam sessions, collaborating with the Colorado Conservatory for Jazz Arts (CCJA), and providing private instruction. His career also includes national tours with acclaimed Ghanaian Afro-Fusion drummer Paa Kow and the Denver-based collective Daruma.

In the summer of 2025, Max performed on the United Stage at the legendary Red Rocks Amphitheater, opening for Sting and Vulfpeck.

On June 7, 2025, Max performed his original compositions with Daruma at the prestigious Kennedy Center, marking a notable milestone in his musical career.
